School Resource Officer Program

The Keizer Police Department's School Resource Officer Unit consists of three School Resource Officers who are supervised by Sgt. Lance Inman.  This team was formed in cooperation with the Salem-Keizer School District who assisted the police department by partially funding the program.  There are ten public schools in the City of Keizer: one High School, two Middle Schools and seven Elementary Schools.  There are over 6,700 students enrolled in Keizer public schools.

Currently, one School Resource Officer Brian Hunter, is assigned exclusively to McNary High School.  With a student population of 1,959 McNary is the most populated school in the City of Keizer.

Officer Tyler Wampler is the School Resource Officer assigned to Whiteaker Middle School, and Officer Jay Prall is assigned to Claggett Middle School.  Ofc. Wampler and Ofc. Prall are also responsible for the local elementary schools.

The School Resource Officers are responsible for handling over 400 calls for service at the schools each school year, as well as traffic related matters surrounding the schools.  Each officer also assists with classroom presentations on topics related to laws, crime prevention, and personal safety.  Besides enforcing criminal laws, the School Resource Officers each act as mentors and role models for many students.

Questions about the School Resource Program should be directed to Sgt. Lance Inman.
