Points of Interest Committee
The purpose of this Committee is to steer and coordinate efforts to identify, authenticate, and memorialize sites of interest located in or near Keizer. The sites of interest may be of historical, geographical, botanical, or the unusual. To see some of the projects the committee has completed click here. The Keizer Points of Interest Committee is comprised of 7 individuals and meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m.

Purpose: To steer and coordinate efforts to identify, authenticate, and memorialize sites of interest located in or near Keizer. Specifically, the Committee shall steer and coordinate only, indicating that the role of this committee is to lead such efforts, causing it to happen but not necessarily do it. The sites of interest may be historical, geographic, botanical, or the unusual.
Membership: The Committee shall consist of seven (7) members. The members shall include a Keizer Chamber of Commerce representative and six (6) citizens-at-large. Members of the steering or subcommittees may reside outside of the Keizer area. A liaison from the City Council shall serve as non-voting ex officio members. Members shall be appointed as outlined by the City Council Rules of Procedure.
Term of Office: Each member of the Committee shall be appointed for a three?year term. Members may be reappointed and can serve an unlimited number of consecutive terms. Upon appointment of the first group of members, terms shall be staggered for one, two, and three years to avoid a full turn over of committee members.
Chair and Recording Secretary: The Committee shall elect a Chair and Vice Chair from among the members at the first meeting of each year. The Committee shall also have the power to remove the chair, if necessary.
Meetings: The Committee shall meet at need, but no less than once annually. All meetings of the Committee shall follow Roberts Rules of Order Newly Revised and the Oregon Public Meeting Laws.
Attendance: It is the duty of each member to attend at least 75% of the meetings each calendar year. When a member is unable to attend a meeting, the member shall notify the Chair. Members of the Committee may be removed by two-thirds majority vote of the City Council.
Procedures: The Committee shall submit final plans for each site to be recognized to the City Council for their acceptance and approval.
